Page 177. Danger Pool is in the right column and the rules for growing it by purchasing unused player dice is in the left column under Earning Hero Points. (Which is not a brilliant layout idea but at least it's on the same page).
1st Edition Sophia's Daughters were the worst sort of broken pile of terrible that had even been in an RPG. They needed the nerf hammer hard. They literally had not only their own secrets but basically all the secrets of all the other major SS's as well. THAT is just lazy writing.
And I agree that Scry was a stinking pile of cheese. However, the Daughters do need to have something of their own as a Secret Society, or what separates them from just any old Guild, or the Sorte marriage arrangers?
They are an underground railroad. If you can't build dramatic plots out of hiding from hunters, avoiding being revealed and the danger of having the people you are smuggling decide they want a confrontation, you are missing some great plots.
Remember this is just the corebook, the Secret Societies book will be coming out later with all the extra goodies.
And Sal is correct, underground railroad stories can be fantastic! Think the latest Mad Max movie. Make those wives all Fate Witches and set the whole thing in Vodacce. BAM! Awesome plot. Their goal? Furiosa's home in Eisen. When she gets there, it's all destroyed, burned out by the war. (Of Course, Furiosa is an Eisen! Dracheneisen arm dude!) Sophia's Daughters are the old ladies! And make it a sailing ship they steal and Nux is an able seaman and Max is like a landless Hidalgo or Cossack. :)
GM buys the left over not Raises dice from players for Hero Points and those dice become the Danger Pool.

Holy crap, now I need to make this adventure.
Awesome plot hook, @BenWoerner. I can already see a slew of great adventures on DriveThruRPG when The Explorers Society launchers ship.
