Is there no way to have this thing let you know when there's new posts on a topic you're watching? Because that will curtail my use (I always forget to check forums).
Before I can play (just had a baby daughter) but maybe one day I will run a game for her. But I was a fan of 7th Sea when it first came out and am looking forward to this version to (especially with this very generous kickstarter for pdf-only folks).
Hello everyone. I'm Rob Justice, the assassitant developer of 7th Sea: Second Edition. I plan to mostly lurk around here, but I figured I'd announce myself.
Hello everybody. Sal is reporting for duty as cheerleader and enthusiastic supporter of all things Thean (except for sorcery, which I still can't abide)
Glad to have this resourse, Glad to have 7th Sea back. I remember eagerly awaiting the first edition many years ago when I heard a rumor that the guys who dis L5R were going to takle swashbuklling. Then 7th Sea surpassed expectation. Everything about the world was awesome. I even got a couple of characters snuck intothe old books. ANd two of the books have my name in the dedication. It was an awesome thing for a nerd to see.
My name is Don Alfonso Sánchez de Ilurdoz, Count-Duke of Angulema, Captain of the Border Guard and Bishop of Altamira, here to serve Theus, Castille and the Good King Sandoval.
To all gentelmens in the room, please accept my friendship, and for the dames, ladies of my heart, please also accept this warm rose, simbol of Theus´ love.
If you are talking about the current Heroes of Altamira campaign at Origins and Gencon, I'm right here to answer questions. Or you can find us on the Guild of San Marcos site.
The current campaign, being in year 6 of a planned 12, will be sticking to 1st edition because nobody is going to convert 24+ adventures AND over 200 player characters.
But we are looking ahead and aiming for a second Ed campaign down the line.
Welcome, Mark Caldwell. Nice to have legendary writers such as yourself here. Feel free to write a Blog or two about your 7th Sea experiences with the 2nd Edition as it spreads across the world.
Thanks Cthulhu Netobvious - I'd say I was more an accident than a legend since I simply volunteered to write a review of 7th Sea when someone else dropped out and I happened to have and have read the books. Of course there is a certain adventure I wrote for Valkyrie that I was told had upset some (unnamed) AEG staff - quite accidentally I'd picked up the idea Frieburg looked cool and like someone might try to seize control of it - but that might make me a somewhat happless Villain ;-)
Once I get time to run 2nd ed I'll try to find time to write something.
Would you happen to have copies of the articles you wrote re: 7th Sea for Valkyrie? Sir Jack Harding and I have been trying to collect all of that stuff and archive it. Assuming you're allowed to share it of course.
The only scenario for 7th Sea that I wrote that made it in to Valkyrie I'm thinking of revising for 2nd Edition and hopefully I'll sort it out sometime. The sticking point has always been my version of the maps were done in a long defunct graphics package so I need to redo them from scratch. I will get round to it sometime. Hopefully the theat of an undead Eisen dragons being raised by rituals to attack Freiburg won't upset anyone :-)
Hello everyone. Been playing 7th sea since 1e dropped, LOVE the new version and just found this place while looking for editable character sheets. Looking forward to meeting everyone and maybe starting a game up on Roll 20 sometime.
Welcome, @RonStrong. Thanks to our many fans here and experienced GMs, we strive daily to provide many opportunities for new fans to join our discussions and offer contributions too.
We have the Forums, Blogs, and even links to Reddit and official sites on the nav-bar (side if desktop, top if mobile).
Hello everyone! I know I'm doing things a bit backwards, considering I posted on the inspirational material thread before this one. I am very new to both this site and 7th Sea, but on a whim I picked up the second edition and really like what I have been reading so far! I figured this would be a good place to lurk on for inspiration and rules advice!
Figures that I only post in the "introduce yourself thread" long after I've started posting in the forum
My handle might be recognized from a couple of other forums (was never big on the AEG forums though), but I've been a 7th Sea fan since the book came out way back in 1999, and am absolutely loving the 2nd edition, which fixes a lot of the things mechanics-wise that needed fixing and if anything is even more fun than the 1st edition.
Looking forward to future releases for this game, and the hopes that with the original idea man at the wheel, things won't veer off into the oddball territory that AEG took things (aliens for starters, almost every secret society having some connection to the Sorcerer's Bargain, Sophia's Daughters being a slightly more heroic version of NOM), and that the spirit of fun that made the game so enjoyable back when we were introduced to Theah persists long after the last supplement has been published.
@DonovanMorningfire, thank you for joining the 7thSea2e community. You have some great ideas and most especially, your sample heroes. Communities are the lifeblood of long lasting games so thanks for joining the other regular contributors here (Sal, Blu, Doc, Harli, and many more).
*Triumphantly arrives*
Hello!
By the Prophet, the wprld has gotten a lot larger since 1st edition.
Hello crew! I just arrive from Reddit Island
;-)
It's always nice when I can get in on something early enough to get just "Morgan" as a name :-).
Now to decide if I want to use my 1E character for a sig while I wait to see what I'm going to do for 2E, or something else...
BTW, I'm Lorena over on Kickstarter. I only use that name when there's legal stuff like $$$ involved.

Having never played 1ed, I am seriously looking forward to getting the mass of .pdf files and getting my players into this setting.

Hello Morgan, Would you prefer private messages or email? All things are possible. Early days now.

Email. PMs would still require me to log in to see if I had messages, which would sort of defeat the purpose :-).

I'd like to second the request . It would be very convenient to get a daily email to let me know about changes to the threads I'm following
Collected 1st Ed main books for the reading but never had a chance to play. Eagerly awaiting the new edition to run my own campaign.
Before I can play (just had a baby daughter) but maybe one day I will run a game for her. But I was a fan of 7th Sea when it first came out and am looking forward to this version to (especially with this very generous kickstarter for pdf-only folks).
Just sailed in from the Sea of Kickstarter and looking forward to joining the crew!
...the Castillian Inquisition!
Anyway, new person to the 7th Sea world, not-quite-but-close-to backing the kickstarter! Look forward with talking with you all!

It's always nice to see the designers for a thing hanging about in its fan forum. Welcome aboard, sir.

I cant wait to run and play again.
You had to know I was coming, heretics....
But, no one expects the Castillan Inquisition!
HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!!
Reporting for Duty and ready to Set Sail
I've been playing since shortly after Avalon came out, and might be more excited now than I was then.
There a port of call here for the living campaigns from GenCon/Origins yet?
A living game huh? Would be interesting to say the least....
My Soldano blades claim for blood!!
Oh!, please allow me to introduce myself:
My name is Don Alfonso Sánchez de Ilurdoz, Count-Duke of Angulema, Captain of the Border Guard and Bishop of Altamira, here to serve Theus, Castille and the Good King Sandoval.

Please allow me to introduce myself
I am a man of mind and twist
I've been around 25 years
Played many a man's game
And I was 'round when pokemon
Came to shore with a splash
Made damn sure my friend
Believed me before and sealed my win
Pleased to meet you
Hope you read my name
But what is puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around Florida
When I saw it was a time for some fun
Killed the War Sun and it's fighters
David screamed in vain
I rode a boat
Held a captain's rank
When the party raged
And the booze drank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you read my name,
Ah, what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game,
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten seasons
For the throne they made
I shouted out,
Who the hell is Bucky?
When after all
He was Winter Soldier
Let me please introduce myself
I'm a man of strange and laugh
And I laid lies for friends
Who get betrayed before the end
Pleased to meet you
Hope you read my name,
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game,
Pleased to meet you
Hope you saw my name,
But what's confusing you
Is how I play my game
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me Bradley
'Cause I'm in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I'll play your soul to waste,
Pleased to meet you
Hope you enjoy my name,
But what's puzzling you
Is just my game.

Long time 7th Sea GM who also used to write reviews of 7th Sea 1st Ed for Valkyrie Quarterly.

Valkyrie? Did you go to Gencon '94?
Saddly no - I've only ever been to UK / Euro Gencons and that wasn't till the early 2000s.
http://www.impworks.co.uk/
Ah. I went on a trip with Mechforce UK and the staff of Valkyrie to Gencon '94 and can't remember the names of anyone else for the life of me.
I do remember sitting in the hotel room and playing pre-release Jihad, using a tub of plastic beads from a kids' toy shop.
