William Shakespeare's Day

Today is Saint George's Day and William Shakespeare's Day (23rd April)

Some ideas for literature translated into the 7th Sea thematic era

  • The merchant of Venice (and Vodacce)
  • A midsummer night's dream (in Avalon)
  • Much ado about nothing (except wine)
  • A comedy of errors (in cartography)
  • Taming of the shrewed (fate witch)
  • Twelfth Night (and Seventh Sea)

Any takers? A section for fiction may be created like the current Blog sections for aspiring story writers to practice.

I haven't gone through every supplement, but does The Bard have an analog?  Montaigne seems to have a not-Mozart (although they made him a very young boy), so I was curious if Shakespeare or any other literary figures got the Theah treatment.

It's either in the Montaigne or Eisen book in the art section: he is a little too popular and someone wants him dead.

"The bawdy Montaigne comedies and tragic love stories are being overshadowed by plays imported from Avalon, particularly those written by the Avalon playwright Montgomery Peerson. This has not gone uncontested, however. Six Montaigne playwrights, led by Louis Gaulle dul Motte, who have fallen out of favor have formed a small society called La Plume Sanglante. Their society is angry with Peerson not only because he has lost them their positions, but also because they see him as the end of Montaigne theater. Their feelings are so strong that they are plotting to kill him when he visits the Empereur in four months to present his new play, The Maelstrom"

- Montaigne, pg 33

I am pretty sure The Maelstrom is a reference to The Tempest, making Montgomery Peerson your man.

Just came here looking for any 7th Sea / Shakespeare connections, as I was wondering about using a variation of one of the tales (or several mixed together) to pitch to potential new players. This is great stuff. Thanks!

As a footnote, if The Maelstrom is based on The Tempest, thought to be Shakespeare's last play, I wonder if he survived the attempt on his life.

I also wonder whether the Seelie courts and otherworldly entities had a hand in his plays, that the events that occur in his play might actually be based on real life people in Theah whose stories are yet to actually occur (just so you could steal them for story ideas).
